TYPES OF WASHBASINS

Our shop offers you a large choice of hand basin models in various shapes: square, rectangular and oval basins are available. One of it is particularly popular with manufacturers who wish to provide you with the compact model par excellence: a long and narrow rectangular washbasin. Duravit and Villeroy & Boch present it in different series such as Happy D.2, which is only 22 cm long and Architectura, which is 25 cm deep. The tap is then located on the right or left side of the basin.

Another great way to save space is to equip your bathroom with a corner washbasin. Villeroy & Boch has designed some very attractive models in the O. novo or Subway range and Duravit in the Architec series.

Once you have decided on the shape of your washbasin, the question remains whether or not you prefer it with an overflow. Washbasins without an overflow are visually more attractive and easier to clean. However, they should be combined with a non-closable valve to prevent water damage. Then, the basin can not be filled up.

Finally, the majority of hand wash basin models are intended for wall mounting, although some offer the option of making use of the space under the washbasin. Indeed, they can also be mounted on a vanity unit, allowing you to create a storage space for your bathroom utensils.

THE RIGHT FITTINGS FOR THE WASHBASIN

It is essential to choose the right size of faucet for the hand washbasin. If the spout of the faucet is too high, the water will splash on the floor when you use it. It's also simply a matter of appearance since keeping the right proportions will make the washbasin area look better. Here too, the manufacturers offer small taps that will fit perfectly with your washbasin and prevent damage.

Finally, the tap is usually mounted directly on the washbasin and the deck is pre-drilled. It's up to you to choose whether you will install a single-hole tap or a pillar tap that only provides cold water. The latest is good for your wallet and the environment.

MATERIALS AND COLOURS

Most hand basins are made of sanitary ceramic. Manufacturers offer coatings that make the ceramic even smoother, such as CeramicPlus by Villeroy & Boch and WonderGliss by Duravit. These coatings protect against the build-up of limescale and dirt, making maintenance easier for you. CeramicPlus also has antibacterial properties.

In addition to the white colour, which is by far the most popular, you can choose between black or Pergamon coloured hand basin.
